The world of education is undergoing a profound transformation. Globalization, digital technology, and shifting labor-market demands have reshaped not only how English is taught, but also how educational services are conceived, managed, and sustained as enterprises. This book, Edupreneurship in English Language Education: Global Market Perspectives, Innovation, and Regulation, was written to explore this intersection between education and entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on the field of English Language Teaching (ELT).
This volume brings together the work of graduate students in the Master’s Program in English Language Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo, developed as part of a course on edupreneurship. Each chapter examines a distinct dimension of building and managing an English-language educational venture: understanding global market trends, conducting needs analysis, applying design thinking, developing a business model, navigating legal and regulatory requirements, and integrating educational technology and artificial intelligence into language teaching.
The chapters combine literature review with case studies drawn from real institutions, offering readers both conceptual grounding and practical insight. It is our hope that this book will be useful not only for students and researchers in enterpreneurship and education, but also for practitioners, language-course administrators, and prospective edupreneurs seeking to build sustainable, high-quality English-language education services.
We would like to thank all the contributing authors for their dedication and effort in completing their respective chapters, and we acknowledge that a small number of chapters remain in progress as the collective work of the class continues. We welcome feedback from readers as this book continues to develop toward its final form.
